Configure Pair Parameters
Market parameters set the limits and step sizes of a market's order book. You set them when you create a market, under Market parameters, and change them later under Operator Controls → Exchange → Markets → Markets & Pairs: click Configure on the market. When you create a market, the values are preset from the rough dollar value of the base asset.
Price
An estimated price for the market, used to preset the other values.
Min and max tradable
- Minimum Tradable Amount and Maximum Tradable Amount: the smallest and largest order size accepted. A minimum stops tiny "dust" orders, which can clutter the order book and slow down your exchange. A maximum stops very large orders from being placed at once.
- Minimum Tradable Price and Maximum Tradable Price: the range in which orders can be priced. Use it to limit price manipulation.
Tradable increment
- Increment Price: the step between price levels in the order book.
- Increment Amount: the step between order sizes.
For example, with a price increment of 0.001, only prices that are a multiple of 0.001 are accepted:
| Price | Accepted? |
|---|---|
| 1.001 | Yes |
| 0.1 | Yes |
| 0.1001 | No |
| 5.0005 | No |
As a rule of thumb, set the price increment to about 0.1% of the market price (in the quote asset), and size the amount increment the same way. Getting this right avoids long, confusing decimals for traders.
Circuit breaker
The circuit breaker rejects limit orders priced too far from the last trade, and limits market orders to that band. It protects a market from sudden large price swings over a short time.
It can't be set when you list a market. Turn it on or off afterwards by configuring the market. For markets that naturally move a lot, leave it off; otherwise it can halt trading often and frustrate users.
Market status
Each market also has a status, such as Full trading, Post-only, Cancel-only or Paused, that controls which orders it accepts. See Markets & Liquidity.
