Developer Overview
Every HollaEx exchange exposes the same REST and WebSocket API. Anything you can do in the exchange UI or the Operator Controls, you can do in code: onboard users, generate deposit addresses, credit balances, place orders, and stream trades, balances and deposits in real time.
Base URLs
| URL | |
|---|---|
| REST | https://<your-api-domain>/v2 |
| WebSocket | wss://<your-api-domain>/stream |
Your API domain depends on how your exchange is set up. It is usually api.yourexchange.com or yourexchange.com/api. To check you have the right one, open the health endpoint in a browser:
curl https://<your-api-domain>/v2/health
A JSON response means the URL is correct. All examples in these docs use https://<your-api-domain> (and wss://<your-api-domain> for the WebSocket). Replace it with your own API domain.
What the API covers
| Area | Auth | What it's for | Reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public | None | Markets, tickers, order books, trades, charts, coin and pair config | Public endpoints |
| User | User API key | Balance, orders, trades, deposits, withdrawals, quick trade | Private endpoints |
| Admin | Admin API key | Users, wallets, manual deposits and withdrawals, transfers, all orders and trades, fee settlement, emails | Admin endpoints |
| WebSocket | Optional | Live order book, trades, prices, your orders, balances, deposits and withdrawals | WebSocket |
| TradingView UDF | None | Chart data feed for TradingView | TradingView |
Where to start
- Create an API key. Use a user key for trading bots and an admin key for back-office integrations.
- Make your first calls with the official Node.js library.
- If you aren't using a library, sign requests yourself. There are copy-paste HMAC examples in Node.js, Python and Bash.
- Stream real-time data instead of polling.
- Look at common integrations for typical operator workflows.
- Before going live, read errors, pagination and rate limits.
SDKs and libraries
| Library | Language | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| hollaex-node-lib (npm) | Node.js | Official. REST (user and admin) and WebSocket, with signing built in. |
| hollaex-py-lib | Python | Official Python client. |
| CCXT | JavaScript, Python, PHP | Third-party library that supports HollaEx (REST). Useful if your bot already speaks CCXT. Point it at your own API URL. |
Any HTTP client works as well. The API is plain JSON over HTTPS with HMAC-SHA256 signing.
