Common Operator Questions
How do I settle trading fees?
Go to Operator Controls → Fees & Revenue → Earnings, click Settle earnings, and choose the account that should receive the fees.
How do I transfer funds between my accounts?
Go to Operator Controls → Treasury → Transfer. You can move funds freely between your accounts.
How is liquidity managed?
Liquidity comes from the public HollaEx Network, which is shared among exchanges. As long as your exchange is connected to the public HollaEx Network, you get liquidity for common trading pairs. The market list on HollaEx Pro shows the shared liquidity markets available to operators. For other trading pairs, use the included market-making bot or another liquidity source (see below).
HollaEx is supported by CCXT, and many bots support it. You can build bots that connect your exchange to other exchanges or liquidity providers.
What market-making options are there?
- Built-in market making: a market-making bot powered by OctoBot is included. It places buy and sell orders automatically to create initial liquidity for new token markets. See Market-Making Bot.
- Custom bots: HollaEx is supported on CCXT (JavaScript, Python, PHP and more), so you can build your own bots.
- External market makers or liquidity providers: integrate them through the HollaEx API. HollaEx doesn't recommend specific providers, but works with most setups.
Many operators combine the built-in bot, custom bots, external providers and the HollaEx Network Swap to build liquidity over time.
How do I integrate an external liquidity provider?
There are two approaches.
- OTC broker with a price feed. Use the built-in OTC broker and connect it to custom pricing through a URL. Prices come from your liquidity provider, and the system handles execution based on those prices and your configured spread.
- Your own bridge or market-making service (recommended for full control). Use the HollaEx REST and WebSocket APIs or the Node.js library. See the Developer Overview.
When building a bridge:
- Use your own exchange's API and WebSocket endpoints (
https://<your-api-domain>), not HollaEx Pro's. - Prefer WebSocket for balance updates, order status updates and trade executions.
- Keep REST usage mainly to creating and cancelling orders, to stay under the rate limits.
- Place bid and ask orders continuously from your provider's quotes, and refresh them when the market moves or on a fixed interval (for example every 30–60 seconds).
- When an order fills on your exchange, hedge the position with your liquidity provider to stay neutral.
How can we enforce KYC on all users?
Use the tier system. The default tier has restrictions, such as withdrawal limits. When a user completes KYC, they move to a higher tier automatically and those restrictions are lifted.
Can 2FA be enforced for all users?
2FA can't be required for every user login by default. You can require 2FA for withdrawals with Force 2FA on Withdrawal in Operator Controls → Exchange → Configuration → Security, and build further requirements into your tier logic or registration flow.
Are AML and PEP checks included?
Yes. HollaEx offers a built-in KYC/AML system through its partnership with iDenfy. It screens users for AML (sanctions, PEP and adverse-media lists) in the same check as the ID verification. See KYC & AML. You can also opt in to another provider, such as Sumsub, Persona or Shufti Pro, or add external AML and transaction-monitoring tools.
Which KYC, AML and fiat plugins are available?
All plugins are installed and managed in Operator Controls → Plugins. Overview: Use Plugins
KYC/KYB:
- Automatic KYC (built-in, powered by iDenfy)
- Sumsub
- Persona
- Shufti Pro (KYC + AML)
AML/CFT and transaction monitoring:

Which custody solution is used?
By default, custody is handled by HollaEx through its built-in exchange wallet. Operators who want their own custody can use it as a service: Guveno is the recommended, fully integrated provider, and it can be set up from the Custody page in the dashboard. The downside of your own custody is losing access to HollaEx Network liquidity, so you'll need to source liquidity yourself. Custom custody integrations with other providers, such as Fireblocks, are discussed with the HollaEx team and have the same trade-off. See Custody of Exchange Funds. HexTrust, a licensed custody provider, is building its exchange on HollaEx, and HollaEx can make an introduction if you want to explore their custody services.
How is trade surveillance handled?
All trades are logged, and markets can use a circuit breaker to help prevent extreme price movements.
Is there a session timeout?
Each session has an expiry date, shown in Operator Controls → Security → Sessions & Logins, where admins can also revoke user sessions at any time. For the default session length, contact the HollaEx team.
Does HollaEx support penetration testing for enterprise deployments?
HollaEx assists with deployment and shares security best practices. For penetration testing of your exchange, contact the HollaEx team to agree on scope and methodology before you test.
What does the mobile app include?
The Android and iOS apps, and the desktop apps, include the core functionality of the web platform. See The HollaEx App.
Where is the exchange database stored?
Exchange data is stored in HollaEx's cloud infrastructure. Each Enterprise exchange has its own dedicated database, and you keep full ownership of your data. Database backups are available from your exchange's Hosting page (see Database backups). For specific hosting-location requirements, contact the HollaEx team.
2FA doesn't work, or I don't get the verification code email
2FA codes are time-based, so most 2FA issues come from a device clock that isn't synced. Make sure your device's time is set automatically and correct. For the verification code email, check your spam folder. If it still fails, contact support with a screenshot of the page you're seeing.
How do I activate a trading pair for my token?
You have two options for a market in a new digital asset:
- Orderbook with the matching engine: an open marketplace of bids and asks where anyone can make markets and the price comes from the open market.
- OTC broker: created directly in Operator Controls. Users buy from and sell to your designated account. This is common for new assets.

Tokens with non-standard behavior, such as burn-on-transfer or taxes, may have limitations. Tokens need to follow standard ERC-20 operations such as Transfer and TransferFrom. If your token has taxes or extra features, describe them to support so the tech team can review.
Can I schedule when a trading pair launches?
Yes. In Operator Controls → Markets → Markets & Pairs you can set a trading pair's status to Pre-launch, Inactive or Post-only, among others. Users can see the pair but can't trade until you set it to Full trading. If you don't see these statuses, upgrade your exchange.
Can my trial be extended?
The trial exchange is provided for two weeks. It runs on real infrastructure, so it can't be extended. To continue, activate a subscription. Enterprise plan details are at https://www.hollaex.com/pricing, and support can help with onboarding.
