Tier Upgrade After KYC

The tier-upgrade-kyc plugin moves a user from one account tier to a higher one as soon as their identity verification (KYC) is approved. By default it moves verified users from tier 1 to tier 2. It's for operators who want KYC-approved users to get the next tier's fees and limits right away, without moving each one by hand.

If you want tiers based on more than KYC, such as trading volume or 2FA, or want users moved down as well, use Automatic Tier Upgrade. See Which tier plugin to use.

What you need

  • The Enterprise plan on HollaEx Cloud.
  • A KYC plugin that marks users as verified, such as Automatic KYC. This plugin only reacts to that approval. It doesn't verify anyone itself.
  • Both tiers set up in Operator Controls → Exchange → Configuration → Tiers. See Tiers & Trading Fees.

Set it up

  1. Install the plugin. Go to Operator Controls → Exchange → Plugins, find tier-upgrade-kyc under Available to install and click Install.

  2. Configure it. Click Configure on the plugin, check the settings below and save.

    SettingWhat it does
from_tierThe tier users must be on to be upgraded. Users on any other tier are left alone. Default: 1.
to_tierThe tier verified users move to. It must exist and be higher than from_tier. Default: 2.
  3. Test it. Approve a test user's KYC while they are on from_tier. They should move to to_tier within moments.

What your users see

Nothing from the plugin itself. Once their KYC is approved, their account moves to the new tier, with that tier's fees and limits.

How it works

  • A user is upgraded when all of these are true: they are on from_tier, their KYC is approved, their account is active and it isn't flagged.
  • The plugin reacts as soon as a user's details change. It also checks every user once an hour, in case it missed a change.
  • It only moves users up, from from_tier to to_tier. It never moves anyone down, and never touches users on other tiers.
  • If a setting is wrong, it does nothing. If either tier is missing, isn't a whole number, or to_tier isn't higher than from_tier, or the plugin can't read your exchange's tiers when it starts, it stays idle and logs why. No one is moved until you fix the settings.

Troubleshooting

  • A verified user wasn't upgraded. Check that they were on from_tier, that their KYC shows as approved (not pending), and that their account is active and not flagged.
  • No one is being upgraded. Check that to_tier exists and is higher than from_tier. If they are wrong, the plugin stays idle.
  • Users are upgraded, then moved back down. If you also use Automatic Tier Upgrade, its requirements for to_tier may not match. Make the two plugins' rules agree.
