Banxa - Fiat On-Ramp

The Banxa plugin adds a Buy crypto page to your exchange. Users pick a fiat currency, a coin, an amount and a payment method, then pay on Banxa's hosted checkout. Banxa sends the crypto to the user's deposit address on your exchange, so your exchange never handles fiat.

What you need

  • The Enterprise plan on HollaEx Cloud.
  • A Banxa merchant account, with an API key and API secret from your Banxa dashboard. Banxa's fees and terms are agreed directly with Banxa.
  • The coins and networks you want to offer turned on in your Banxa account, and listed on your exchange.
One buy page only

The Transak plugin uses the same /buy-crypto page. Install Banxa or Transak, not both.

Set it up

  1. Get your API key and API secret from your Banxa dashboard.
  2. Install banxa from Operator Controls → Exchange → Plugins.
  3. Open the plugin, enter the settings below and save. The default address is Banxa's sandbox, for testing.
  4. Sign in to your exchange as a test user, open Buy crypto and request a quote.
  5. When you're ready to go live, change banxa_url to the production address Banxa gives your account and use your production credentials.
SettingWhat it does
api_keySecret, from Banxa. Your Banxa API key. Required.
api_secretSecret, from Banxa. Your Banxa API secret, used to sign every request. Required.
banxa_urlBanxa's address for your account. Default is the sandbox, https://hollaex.banxa-sandbox.com. Use the production address Banxa assigns you when you go live. Don't add a slash at the end.

Until the credentials are set and Banxa can be reached, the plugin keeps trying again once a minute.

What your users see

The Buy crypto page appears in your exchange's navigation. The user picks the fiat currency to pay with, the coin to receive and the amount, and chooses a payment method. The available payment methods and the minimum and maximum amounts come from Banxa. Before leaving your exchange, the user accepts a disclaimer saying that Banxa, a third party, handles the payment.

The user pays on Banxa's checkout and returns to your exchange afterwards. The same page lists the user's Banxa orders.

The page buys crypto only. Users can't sell through it.

How it works

  • The crypto goes to the user's own deposit address on your exchange for that coin and network. If the user doesn't have one yet, the plugin creates it.
  • Once Banxa sends the crypto, it's credited like any other deposit.
  • Banxa runs its own identity checks. If the Sumsub plugin is installed and configured on your exchange, users who passed Sumsub verification have it shared with Banxa, so they may not need to verify again. Without Sumsub, orders still work.

Troubleshooting

  • No quote, or a coin is missing: check that the coin and its network are turned on in your Banxa account and listed on your exchange.
  • Requests fail after going live: check that banxa_url is your production address, without a slash at the end, and that the API key and secret are the production ones.
